New English Translation
46 “Beware[a] of the experts in the law.[b] They[c] like walking around in long robes, and they love elaborate greetings[d] in the marketplaces[e] and the best seats[f] in the synagogues[g] and the places of honor at banquets. 47 They[h] devour[i] widows’ property,[j] and as a show make long prayers. They will receive a more severe punishment.”
